KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Investigators will continue to look for answers Tuesday morning that could help them determine the cause of last week’s deadly fire.

In the fire, 13-year veteran John Mesh and 17-year veteran Larry Leggio lost their lives as they saved to residents from a burning apartment that collapsed.
So far the only cause that’s been ruled out is lightning.
Investigators say they are busy going through rubble and picking out anything electrical. A lot of those items have been spread out on the street so electrical engineers can look through the pieces and continue investigating.

The ATF took a break over the weekend so they could attend the memorial services for Larry Leggio and John Mesh.
While the city mourns the loss of these two heroes, other victims are having a difficult time moving on. Teri Summers, her husband and baby lost everything when their home burned down.
She says the Red Cross helped put them up for about a week, but now many of the people who lived in this building are struggling to find a place to live.
“Shelters are full,” Summers said. “We cannot stay with family or friends. We’ve been staying with a friend but that’s only a night or so we’ve been bouncing around.”
As the community continues to grieve the big question is how much longer until the investigation is complete. The ATF says they plan to have agents out here at least through the rest of the week.
