INDEPENDENCE, Mo. — Chester Oberg Jr. is already in jail after he was charged with three sex crimes for alleged offenses in Kansas City, and on Wednesday it was announced that he’s been charged with six more sex crimes for offenses in Independence. Police said that the most recently filed charges date back to 2005 and they believe additional victims may exist.
The charges announced against Oberg, 58, on Wednesday include four counts of first-degree statutory sodomy, one count of first-degree child molestation and one count of first-degree statutory rape.
The Kansas City offenses were filed in early December of 2013 and include two counts of first-degree statutory sodomy against a child younger than 14 years old and one count of first-degree child molestation.
Online court records indicate that he’d be required to post separate cash bonds for each case of $150,000 to be freed from jail.
A press release indicates that Oberg also goes by an alias of “Roger” and has a home address in Smithville, Mo. Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying other potential victims from crimes that may have occurred in the Kansas City metro area.
