WABAUNSEE COUNTY, Kan. — People living in Harveyville will be able to replace their lost ID’s for free. The Kansas Department of Revenue is offering to replace ID cards, driver’s licenses and tax information for free.
“We are happy to help out fellow Kansans and a new driver`s license or vehicle title is one step on the path to rebuilding lives,” said Kansas Director of Vehicles Donna Shelite.
Tornado victims living in Wabaunsee County who lost their driver`s license in the storms can go to the full service driver`s license offices in Topeka or at the Wabaunsee County Treasurer`s office. You just need to show a document, such as their FEMA identification number, a utility bill, school document or other mail that lists their address, proving they lived in the storm affected area and Kansas will replace the license or identification card free of charge.
If you lost your car or any type of vehicle in the storm, you can take insurance claims to your local county treasurer`s office and apply for a refund for the vehicle`s tags.
For car titles lost in the storm, you can get free replacement by visiting the Wabaunsee County Treasurer`s office or the Titles and Registration counter in the Docking State Office Building in Topeka.
If people need replacement copies of their tax returns, they can call 785-368-8222, and the department will provide a copy for free.
