KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Recruitment began Monday for new Kansas City, Mo., firefighters.

The recruitment process began Jan. 7 and will run until Fri., Feb. 15.

The minimum eligibility requirements to be a firefighter with the city are:

  • Applicant must be 19 years of age by Feb. 15, 2013.
  • Applicant must not have turned 30 years of age prior to Feb. 15, 2013.
  • Applicant must be a high school graduate (or possess a state-issued GED).
  • Applicant must possess a valid driver’s license at the time of application.
  • Preference is given to paramedics, veterans and City of Kansas City, Mo., residents.
  • Minorities, women and active military personnel are encouraged to apply.
  • Non-residents must move into City of Kansas City, Mo., city limits within nine months of employment.

Applications must arrive at the Human Resources Department by Feb. 15, 2013 at 5 p.m., the city said.
