KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Residents of Kansas City, Kan., living in the area bounded by north of County Line Road and south of Hagemann Street and east of 59th Street and west of 53rd Street have been asked to boil their water as a precaution, the Kansas City Board of Public Utilities said.
“We are experiencing water quality taste and odor issues in the area identified,” BPU said. “We believe this is a result of high fire flow rates in the area.”
Therefore, as a precaution, we advise that all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth or washing dishes be boiled. A rolling boil of one minute is sufficient. As an alternative, bottled water may be used, BPU suggested.
BPU said the “Precautionary Boil Water Notice” will remain in effect until the problem has been corrected and a bacteriological survey shows that the water is safe to drink.
