KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police in Kansas City said a standoff at the 5200 block of NE 45th Street ended peacefully on Saturday night. The man, who is in his 50’s, exited the house around 10 p.m. and was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
Police said they were initially called to the home on a ‘check the welfare’ call. Upon arrival the man was hostile and barricaded himself in the house.
FOX 4’s Gia Vang reported from the scene that the man has a history of incidents with police. He told police on Saturday on the phone that if they came to the home that he would harm them.
“We’ve had calls to his house in the past and he’s threatened violence before so that’s why we made a phone call this time. There’s no sense in taking any chances in getting any officers hurt,” Captain Steve Young said.
