LAWRENCE, Kan. — A woman is dead and her husband injured after an accident involving a utility terrain vehicle (UTV) just southeast of Lawrence late Saturday night.

According to authorities, Daniel Vantuyl, 40, and his wife Lori Vantuyl, 35, were riding in the four-seat Arctic Cat UTV on a road near their home in the 900 block of East 1587 Road around 10:45 on Saturday night when he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll over.

Daniel Vantuyl was taken to a Lawrence hospital with what was described as non-life threatening injuries, while his wife was pronounced dead at the scene.

Douglas County Sherrif’s deputies say that the crash remains under investigation. Authorities say that this was the second fatal accident involving a UTV or ATV on county roads this year.
