KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A young boy found wandering the streets is home safe again after a passing cab driver spotted him and called authorities.

The driver saw the child near 5th and Troost around 4 a.m. Tuesday morning. He was wearing only a diaper. The driver stopped and took the boy to a couple of homes, asking if the boy lived there. When the driver could not locate the boy’s family, he called police.

Around 5 a.m., the boy’s mother and an aunt arrived at 4th and Troost where officers were caring for the child. Police determined the boy, who has autism, left his home through an unlocked door. No charges are expected to be filed.

FOX 4’s Kathy Quinn was at the scene when police returned the boy to his family. See that video below.
