KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Jackson County prosecutors charged a 24-year-old man with robbery after police say he stole an Xbox from a man selling the system on Craigslist.
They are also investigating Debvon Buckner’s possible connection to the shooting of a father Wednesday night, who thought he was meeting a man selling a car on Craigslist. The man remains in the hospital; his wife and 16-year-old son were also with him to see the car and escaped serious injury.
According to court records, a few hours that robbery and shooting, Buckner is accused of meeting a Craigslist seller in the 8800 block of Crystal and stealing the Xbox video game system from him.
The victim told police that three males showed up to see the Xbox. The victim said one of the males lifted up his shirt and pulled out a handgun, instructing the victim to “Give me the connections.”
The victim handed everything over and the three men fled on foot . The victim later identified Buckner as one of the robbers.
A phone number used to contact the seller of the Xbox, according to court records, was used in connection to the robbery that occurred nearby the same day and involved the use of Craigslist, police determined.
On Thursday police tracked the phone to U.S. 40 Highway and Sterling Avenue, where Buckner and another man were taken into custody. A partially disassembled cell phone was found where Buckner had been seated at a bus stop.
