KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Department of Defense has announced U.S. Army Private Jonathon Hostetter was killed in an attack in Afghanistan.

Hostetter was a native of Humphreys, Missouri.  The town is located just north of Kansas City.

He and another soldier died when enemy combatants hit their unit with an improvised explosive device.

They were assigned to the Second Engineer Battalion, 36th Engineer Brigade out of New Mexico.
