OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – An overnight building fire that triggered a high-rise alarm did not injure anyone after multiple crews from Johnson County were called to extinguish the blaze at the 9300 block of Metcalf Avenue. First responders from the Overland Park Fire Department reported a fire from the roof top of an 11-story building.
Firefighters were able to access the roof and knocked down a fire that was in a rooftop cooling unit. After spending close to an additional hour doing overhaul operations the fire was extinguished. Fire damage was contained to the cooling unit that caused the fire while smoke damage was reported throughout the building. The cause of the fire is still under investigation
