Leawood luxury home to be auctioned off

LEAWOOD, Kan. — A Leawood home appraised at more than a million dollars will be sold at auction Friday, March 1 at 1 p.m..

The home at 11632 Brookwood St. sits in the upscale Hallbrook neighborhood. The 7,000 square foot English Tudor home is not in foreclosure. It’s being auctioned off because the long-time owners lost patience selling it the old-fashioned way.

“The sellers built it themselves. They’ve since built a second home and moved and so they’ve just chosen to auction it to expedite the sell,” said Greg Duncan with Cates Auction.

Duncan says there is no minimum bid, but notes the house was listed last year for $1.5 million.

“Ultimately the home is worth what the person who wants it the most is willing to pay and we describe auctions as the purest form of price discovery.”

The country home has 5 fireplaces, 5 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, walnut hardwood floors, a library, a butler’s panel and a custom designed kitchen with a butler’s pantry.

The auction will take place at the home.
