KANSAS CITY, Mo. — On this Valentine’s Day, have you ever wondered how many of your co-workers have fallen in love — or lust — in the office?
Online placement firm Glassdoor surveyed a thousand customers of its website; some are unemployed, while others have jobs. Among the findings:
- 51 percent of people surveyed said it is “OK to have a romantic relationship with a co-worker.”
- 37 percent have been involved in a romantic relationship with a co-worker.
- 12 percent admit to “personal intimate relations” inside of the office, at work. Another 22 percent say that they have never had “relations” in the workplace, but wouldn’t be opposed to it. Additionally, 41 percent of those surveyed think other co-workers have had “relations” while at the office.
- 18 percent admit being attracted to a co-worker, and
- 54 percent say most office romances end with “awkwardness” at work.
The site says employees shouldn’t feel guilty about falling in love at work, but should wait until the relationship has some solid footing before going public. Advisors also recommend keeping your relationship and work lives separated as much as possible.
