PLATTE CITY, Mo — The search is over for a missing 6-year-old boy. Police found Kalvin Willis with his father just outside of Platte City at 10:30 Friday morning. Tonight, Olathe police have Aaron Willis, Kalvin’s father, in custody at the Platte City Detention Center were they’re working to figure out what’s next.
The search for Kalvin and his Dad began Thursday afternoon, after Aaron Willis and his girlfriend got into a fight. His girlfriend called police, worried after Aaron Willis threatened to hurt himself and left with his son. Olathe police chose not to tell the media of the missing child however until Friday morning.
“This incident didn’t meet the criteria at that point. The child was never threatened initially but it was our concern for the welfare of the child that’s why we took the steps that we did to contact the KBI and the Centers for Missing and Exploited Children as well as outside agencies for assistance,” said Sargent Gary Allen with the Olathe Police Department.
Police located both Aaron and Kalvin Willis at a McDonald’s Friday morning. That’s when they arrested Aaron Willis, who is now being held on a $100 thousand cash bond.
