OLATHE, Kan. — Hundreds of Olathe Northwest students will be tested for tuberculosis, after a classmate tested positive. The school will hold a forum on Tuesday where health experts will talk to parents and separate fact from fiction about TB.
A letter was sent home to parents last week from the Johnson County Health Department about the case, and 315 students will be tested at school starting Wednesday.
TB is difficult to get, but it’s spreads through coughing and sneezing. Students and parents will meet in the school commons at 5:30 p.m. to hear from the JCHE and state health departments about TB and the testing.
