OLATHE, Kan. — An Overland Park father was arrested for driving under the influence twice in the same day. Johnson County Sheriff Deputies say in the second incident, 47-year-old Todd Jadlow was speeding 100-miles per hour with his two-year-old daughter in the back seat.
The same-day arrests happened on December 11th. Jadlow was first arrested for DUI at 1:30 a.m. in Overland Park. Later that afternoon, Johnson County Sheriff Deputies arrested him again and both times he was driving on a suspended license.
On Thursday, a Johnson County Judge set Jadlow’s bond at a $100,000 for endangering the welfare of a child, driving under the influence, driving while suspended and Reckless Driving.
“We felt like this bond was appropriate to ensure it doesn’t happen again,” said Johnson County District Attorney Steve Howe.
Jadlow’s defense attorney called the bond “excessive” and asked for a $20,000 bond. The judge denied his request pointing out the two arrests in the same day, adding the second arrest placed his child in danger.
Lori Marshall is the Johnson County victim advocate for Mothers Against Drunk Driving. She said the case is heart-wrenching because Jadlow’s daughter was placed in a dangerous situation.
“A two-year-old child who can’t speak for themselves, who can’t say, ‘I’m not getting in the car with you because you’re intoxicated.’ She didn’t have a choice. She was in the car while he was racing down K-10 at 100 miles per hour.”
FOX 4 has learned Jadlow has been arrested for DUI four times since May. The first arrest came May 13th in Desoto, Kansas. The second followed on June 26th in Overland Park. The third and fourth arrests came on December 11th.
“The sad thing is with the repeat offenders is at one point are they going to stop? Is it going to take killing themselves? Is it going to take killing somebody else?” said Marshall.
Jadlow is a former basketball player who was a 6’9′ forward/center on the University of Indiana team coached by Bobby Knight that won the NCAA championship in 1987. After college, he played pro basketball in Europe and Argentina.
