KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A local non-profit organization wanted to pay it forward to a mother who needed a fresh start.
Loshonda Kane has been trying to move on since her 14-year-old daughter, Alexis Kane, was murdered at a Kansas City water park.
Kane was shot and killed in January, and investigators said there was no clear motive for the shooting.
Roslynn Temple of Mothers in Charge has been working with the Kane family to help them cope with the tragedy.
“It’s not going to bring her life back,” Temple said. “It’s nothing replayed to replace the void in her mother plus this will help her mother out with her younger children that she have.”
Temple said she wanted to help the family because she too had a child murdered.
Since the murder of Alexis, Loshonda said she has moved homes.
Loshonda said her other children keep her motivated and moving in life.
“Thank you so much so much of a blessing,” Loshonda said. “I’m so shocked and so surprised. I appreciated you, highly blessed. Even though it’s a bad situation, it all comes to good, and I just feel blessed thank you.”
