Death of 55-year-old Independence man labeled suspicious

Independence police are on the scene of a death investigation on Friday.

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. — Police in Independence are investigating a death Friday.

According to Independence police dispatch, officers were called to a home in the 15100 block of E. Truman Road near E. Smith Avenue at 11:05 a.m. in regards to a deceased individual.

Since, police have labeled the case a suspicious death investigation.

The victim was identified as 55-year-old Charles D. Younger of Independence. Police were able to search the home after obtaining a search warrant.

“I knew it was something bad whenever I seen the crime scene van right in front of the house,” neighbor Brandi Lutjen said. “At one point earlier, I seen eight or ten police cars.”

Sources told FOX 4 that the home had been abandoned for some time, but Younger had just moved in in the last month or so.
