KANSAS CITY, Kan. — A local football star wanted to give back to his community Saturday in Kansas City, Kansas. Darrell Stuckey, who now plays as a safety for the San Diego Chargers, hosted a free youth football camp at Bishop Ward High School.
More than 180 campers, aged 7 to 18, worked on all kinds of football techniques including foot work and tackling.
Stuckey said he wanted to offer kids something he had always hoped for while he was growing up.
“Football is just a game, but it transfers so many life experiences into the boys minds. It teaches them discipline and integrity — how to work with others. If they can do the little things right in football, then it builds the character in them to do the little things right in life,” he explained.
This was the first year for the free camp. Stuckey told FOX 4 News he hopes the event will be an annual one.
