GRAIN VALLEY, Mo. — The man suspected of shooting a woman in the head in a Grain Valley parking lot is dead after apparently killing himself following a police pursuit in San Diego, California.
According to San Diego Police, authorities in San Diego found Alan Lovelace, 36, shortly after 12:00 a.m. Pacific Time after Grain Valley Police pinged his cellular phone to try and determine his location. Police in San Diego then pursued Lovelace’s van in a slow-speed pursuit into a dead-end beach area.
After a brief standoff, police found him dead in the van after apparently taking his own life.
Lovelace was a suspect in the shooting of a woman, identified only as the mother of at least one of his children, in the parking lot of the Owner/Operator Independent Drivers Association headquarters building at RD Mize Road and Kirby in Grain Valley as she was leaving work around 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was shot in the head. She is in critical condition at an area hospital. Police say that Lovelace had fled the scene in the victim’s van.
FOX 4 learned that Lovelace was recently ordered to pay the victim $250 a month in child support plus health insurance. Police say there was a history of domestic abuse between the two.
Authorities say that Lovelace was fired from a Blue Springs packaging company a few weeks ago.
