KANSAS CITY, Mo. — As All-Star week gets closer, rumors are running rampant. People are saying it will cost $100 to park at the Truman Sports Complex during All-Star events.
That’s not true. Some ads are offering deals but Royals officials along with police say you should avoid these offers. The price for parking will be similar to the price you pay when you attend Chiefs’ or Royals’ games.
“It’s going to be $10,” said Toby Cook with the KC Roylas. “Then $25 Monday night and $25 Tuesday night.”
Some people won’t have to pay for parking separately because they’ve bought package deals.
“If you bought a strip, the most you’re going to spend is $60. “It’s not the $100 you’ve heard about.”
No one is sure where the rumor started that parking will be $100. Internet ads are offering deals to park off property for much less. Some ads are even offering shuttles to the stadium. Royals officials are warning fans to beware of these deals.
“The only thing we can say is buyer beware,” Cook said. “We don’t know what’s going on outside the Truman Sports Complext.”
If you pay to park in the stadium lots, you will know where your car is. If you look for parking in nearby neighborhoods or even hotel lost, you could end up paying more if your car gets towed. If you leave your car with a stranger, that could create more problems.
“Once you start parking in private property, The Royals obviously and MLB can’t be concerned about that or really know what’s going to happen to you car,” Cook said. “So it’s really not advised.”
The All-Star game airs on FOX 4 on July 10. There are also several watch parties being held. Click here for more information.
