KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City helped set a new record for the number of volunteers! About 3,000 people showed up to interview at Kauffman Stadium on Friday.
About 1,500 people showed up for the information and interview session on Friday morning. About 900 people are scheduled to interview during the evening session Friday night. On Saturday, another 900 people will try out.
The Royals have had an overwhelming response. About 6,000 people signed up online. Only 1,500 to 2,000 volunteers are needed.
“We’re a little worried about it because some people will go through the entire process and we might not have shifts available for them,” said Curt Nelson.
Volunteers will have different tasks like handing out guides and bobble heads at fan fest. Some will even greet visitors at KCI Airport. Nelson says the volunteers will need to answer questions about where to find certain food or what local attractions they should check out.
“Where is the hotel or where’s the Truman Library?” he said. “Where’s the Nelson Atkins? What’s the best place to get bbq?”
Most of the people FOX 4 talked to on Friday says this is a once in a lifetime experience.
