INDEPENDENCE, Mo. — Crews have repaired a water main break that caused damage along a stretch of 23rd Street in Independence, but the road is expected to remain closed through Wednesday.
According to the Independence Water Department, crews repaired the break which closed 23rd Street in both directions between R.D. Mize Road and 291 Highway on Tuesday morning, and have restored water service in the area.
Officials on Tuesday said that the age of the pipe and soil conditions may have led to the break of the 12-inch water main.
According to the Water Department, a contractor is scheduled to begin repair of 23rd Street on Wednesday morning, and it’s anticipated that it should be done by the end of the day.
