BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. — A Jackson County judge decided Wednesday that Richard Burroughs, a soccer coach charged with child molestation of three girls on his soccer team, can be released on $150,000 bond.

Judge Jeff Bushur said he received letters requesting Burroughs be denied bond, but told the people in the courtroom, including the parents of Burroughs three young accusers, that Burroughs is presumed innocent.

Judge Bushur said if Burroughs is able to post bond, he won’t be completely free. He must be confined to his home and wear an electronic monitoring bracelet. If he comes within a thousand feet of any school, park or playground or if he has contact with any child under the age of 17, including his own children, he will return to jail.

Judge Burshur said he has also received letters from parents in support of Burroughs, requesting he be allowed to see his own children beyond the supervised visits his wife must oversee, but the judge ordered the supervision.

Burroughs is scheduled to be back in court March 7. In order to get out on bond, Burroughs must post ten per cent of the bond or $15,000 in cash.
