LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. — A female student was taken to the hospital with minor injuries Friday morning after she was struck by a vehicle in Lee’s Summit, Mo.
Police said the incident happened around 8:30 a.m. as the girl, a student at Summit Point Elementary School, was crossing Raintree Parkway to catch her school bus near Batten Drive.
According to police, the school bus had stopped on Raintree Drive heading westbound but had not yet deployed the stop arm. The girl had been walking beside the vehicle, traveling east on SW Raintree Parkway. Police said it appears when she observed her bus was stopped, she ran into the roadway and did not see the vehicle.
The driver of the car was not cited in the accident.
