KANSAS CITY, Mo. — What’s a sure sign of the changing seasons? The Waldo Fall Festival! The annual tradition brought thousands to the Kansas City neighborhood Saturday.
It’s the 22nd year for the annual festival.
“It’s just grown and grown ever since and it’s very much centered around families,” said Waldo business owner Becky Beck.
Beck was named honorary Waldo Mayor by Kansas City Mayor Sly James.
“It was really an honor,” she said.
The festival began as a way to celebrate the small neighborhood of 13 thousand and its businesses. Today Waldo has 600 business and 60% are locally owned.
“I just like the close knit community everybody kind of looks out for each other and I like the family fee and there’s always kids running around and things to do,” said Waldo resident Brooke Wells.
Saturday’s festival featured food trucks, face painting, vendors, music and more.
