MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — If two hours seems like an eternity for not checking your phone, then one Minneapolis theater has just the thing for you — “tweet seats.”
The seats are located in the balcony-level of the theater, so it doesn’t annoy other audience members, the Guthrie Theater said.
The theater said the goal was to “encourage audience interaction” and “create buzz” about performances people are watching.
However, not everyone is impressed. Tim League, CEO of the Alama-Drafthouse theater chain, blogged and said he was “horrified” by the idea of “text-friendly” showings at movie theaters.
