KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The sentencing of a Northland teen who lost control of her car while texting, causing a crash that killed a 72-year-old woman, highlighted the dangers of texting while driving – an act that studies show is more dangerous than drinking and driving.

Now authorities are hoping that tragedies like this one will prompt drivers to put down their phones and focus on the road.
