SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — Aaron Lewis, who sang the national anthem, at World Series Game 5, apologized after messing up a line early in his performance.
The lead singer of the rock band Staind and solo country/rock artist made his mistake in the second line of the national anthem, singing, “What so proudly we hailed were so gallantly streaming.” The correct lyrics are, “What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming.”
During the game, the singer got onto Facebook and made a sincere apology.
