Kansas City, Mo. — Led by a passing attack that seemed to move downfield at will, the Denver Broncos handed the Kansas City Chiefs their third straight loss on Sunday, winning 35-28 at Arrowhead Stadium.

The Chiefs for the first time this season find themselves alone in second place in the AFC West, while the Broncos now hold sole possession of first place in the division for the first time this season.

Denver quarterback Peyton Manning threw five touchdown passes, four of them to wide receiver Eric Decker. Manning passed for 403 total yards, while also throwing two interceptions.

Kansas City quarterback Alex Smith threw two touchdown passes, one each to Junior Hemingway and Anthony Fasano. The Chiefs also got a rushing touchdown from Jamaal Charles, who rushed 19 times for 93 yards total, giving him 1,011 yards for the season. Charles also now has 1,003 career carries, placing him in fifth place on the franchise’s all-time list in that category.

Chiefs rookie running back Knile Davis returned a kickoff 108 yards for a touchdown, the longest kickoff return for a score in Chiefs history. The Chiefs, now 9-3, play next week at Washington against the Redskins. The Broncos next week will host the Tennessee Titans.
