KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas University and the University of Missouri are both No. 2 seeds in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament, as the Big 12 sent a total of six teams to this year’s Big Dance.

The Jayhawks (27-6, 16-2 Big 12), the No. 2 seed in the Midwest Region, will take on No. 15-seed Detroit (22-13, 11-7 Horizon) on Friday night in Omaha. Missouri (30-4, 14-4 Big 12), coming off their win over Baylor for the Big 12 tournament championship, will be the No. 2 seed in the West Region, and will take on No. 15-seed Norfolk State (25-9, 13-3 MEAC) on Friday afternoon, also in Omaha.

The No. 8-seed Kansas State Wildcats (21-10, 10-8 Big 12) will play No. 9-seeded Southern Miss (25-8, 11-5 C-USA) in East Region action on Thursday in Pttsburgh..

No. 3-seed Baylor (27-7, 12-6 Big 12) will play No. 14-seed South Dakota State (27-7, 15-3 Summit) in South Region action on Thursday evening in Albuquerque, while No. 8-seed Iowa State (22-10, 12-6 Big 12) will take on No. 9-seed Connecticut (20-13, 8-10 Big East) in South Region action on Thursday night in Louisville, Kentucky.

No. 11-seed Texas (20-13, 9-9 Big 12) will play No. 6-seed Cincinnati (24-10, 12-6 Big East) in East Region action on Friday afternoon in Nashville.

As for other regional schools, No. 5-seed Wichita State (27-5, 16-2 MVC) will play No. 12 VCU (28-6, 15-3 CAA) on Thursday night in South Regional action at Portland, Oregon, while No. 9-seed St. Louis (25-7, 12-4 A 10) will play No. 8-seed Memphis (26-8, 13-3 C-USA) in West Region action on Friday night in Columbus, Ohio.
