KU Thumps Previously Unbeaten Baylor 92-72

LAWRENCE, Kan. — It was the first big time, Big 12, ‘Big Monday’ game of the new year, and it belonged to the Kansas Jayhawks.

Kansas beat previously unbeaten Baylor 92-72 at Allen Fieldhouse on Monday night, becoming the lone unbeaten team in Big 12 league play.

Kansas (15-3, 5-0) got off to a quick start, but Baylor led by as many as five points in the first half. Kansas finished the first half on a 13-0 run as senior point guard Tyshawn Taylor hit a three-point shot with four seconds left on the game clock, and Kansas led 39-29 at the intermission. Kansas then outscored Baylor (17-1, 4-1) by eight in the second half and was never really challenged.

Kansas scored 53 second half points, and shot 57 percent from the field for the game. Taylor led Kansas with 28 points, and teammate Thomas Robinson added 27 points and 14 rebounds. All five Kansas starters scored in double digits, with junior center Jeff Withey scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Baylor was led by Perry Jones III who had 18 points and 5 rebounds. Quincy Miller scored 17 for the Bears.

Baylor next plays host to Missouri on Saturday, while Kansas travels to Texas.
