KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Safety and running back. Positions that were somewhat or totally ignored in the first round of the draft figure to get a lot of attention on the second day of selections.
FOX4 will track all developments with the draft on Friday night in this liveblog at the bottom of the page.
The second and third rounds of the virtual draft could see, pardon the pun, a run on running backs. Only one, LSU’s Clyde Edwards-Helaire, went on Thursday, to the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs in the final spot.
Look for Georgia’s D’Andre Swift, Wisconsin’s Jonathan Taylor, Ohio State’s J.K Dobbins, Utah’s Zack Moss and Florida State’s Cam Akers to find homes.
No safeties went — six cornerbacks were chosen — in the opening round. Alabama’s Xavier McKinney, LSU’s Grant Delpit, Minnesota’s Antoine Winfield Jr., and Georgia’s J.R Reed are available.
As usual, the spotlight will shine on any quarterback remaining. That means Jake Fromm of Georgia, Jalen Hurts of Oklahoma and Jacob Eason of Washington could be called out by Commissioner Roger Goodell.
And last but not least!

With the ninety-sixth pick in the NFL draft the Kansas City Chiefs selected Lucas Niang. Here’s a quick evaluation of the pick.
Lucas Niang: OT–TCU
Good blend of size, athleticism and movement skills. Niang has had mixed
results as a pass protector — injury limitations may have had an effect — but shows the foot quickness to develop. Played with a torn hip labrum as a senior that eventually ended his season early.
With the 96th pick in the NFL draft, the Kansas City Chiefs have selected TCU tackle Lucas Niang. Welcome to CHIEFS KINGDOM!
Chiefs are on the clock! We’ll jump to their pick next…

With the seventy-first pick in the NFL draft the Baltimore Ravens selected Justin Madubuike, the defensive tackle out of Texas A&M.
With the seventieth pick in the NFL draft the Miami Dolphins selected Brandon Jones, the safety out of Texas.
With the sixty-ninth pick in the NFL draft the Seattle Seahawks selected Damien Lewis, the offensive lineman out of LSU.
With the sixty-fifith pick in the NFL draft the Cincinnati Bengals selected Logan Wilson, the linebacker out of Wyoming.
Logan Wilson: LB — Wyoming
105 tackles/8.5 tackles for loss/1 sack/4 INTs/7 pass break ups/1 forced fumble as a senior for the Cowboys.
Doesn’t appear to have NFL speed, but has the physical talent, technique and a high IQ when it comes to stopping the run. High IQ also helps him play well in zone, hence the 4 interceptions. Does not stand out as a bltzer, hence the single sack.
With the sixty-eighth pick in the NFL draft the New York Jets selected Ashtyn Davis, the safety out of Cal.
With the sixty-seventh pick in the NFL draft the Detroit Lions selected Julian Okwara, the linebacker out of Notre Dame.
With the sixty-fourth pick in the NFL draft the Carolina Panthers selected Jeremy Chinn, the safety out of Southern Illinois.

With the sixty-third pick in the NFL draft the Kansas City Chiefs selected Willie Gay Jr.. Here’s a quick evaluation of the pick.
Willie Gay Jr.: LB — Mississippi State
Gay has excellent range, body control and lateral mobility to slip blocks while working to the ballcarrier. His burst when attacking downhill is exceptional and it makes him a very successful blitzer. Will sometime forget to wrap up when going for a big hit and gets caught looking into the backfield way too often. Also broke the Mississippi State QBs jaw before a big bowl game by punching him
With the sixty-second pick in the NFL draft the Green Bay Packers selected AJ Dillon the running back out of Boston College.
With the sixty-first pick in the NFL draft the Tennessee Titans selected Kristian Fulton. Here’s a quick evaluation of the pick.
Kristian Fulton: CB — LSU
14 pass break ups/1 INT/28 tackles as a senior for the Tigers.
Has come up clutch in big moments and his 4.4 speed was evident on the field. He misses a lot of tackles and can be a liability against taller, longer wide receivers.
With the sixtieth pick in the NFL draft the New England Patriots selected Josh Uche. Here’s a quick evaluation of the pick.
Josh Uche: Edge — Michigan
8.5 sacks/35 tackles/11.5 tackles for loss/2 forced fumbles as a senior for the Wolverines.
Does well using his speed when rushing the QB, can even overpower offensive lineman by turning his speed into power. Was a key part in a lot of clutch moments for Michigan last year, such as the Army game. Although he does better than most in coverage, he still needs to develop as a pass rusher.
With the fifty-ninth pick in the NFL draft the New York Jets selected Denzel Mims. Here’s a quick evaluation of the pick.
Denzel Mims: WR — Baylor
He has it all, size, length, speed, and a large catch radius. Mims is a natural catcher of the football, extends his arms and plucks the ball out of the air effortlessly. Also a tremendous blocker for his position. Still needs to develop as a route runner.
With the fifty-eighth pick in the NFL draft the Minnesota Vikings selected Exra Cleveland, the offensive tackle out of Boise State.
With the fifty-seventh pick in the NFL draft the Los Angeles Rams selected Van Jefferson the wide receiver out of Florida.
With the fifty-sixth pick in the NFL draft the Miami Dolphins selected Raekwon Davis the defensive tackle out of Alabama.
With the fifty-fifth pick in the NFL draft the Baltimore Ravens selected J.K. Dobbins. Here’s a quick evaluation of the pick.
J.K. Dobbins: RB — Ohio State
301 carries for 2,003 yards and 21 TDs/23 receptions for 247 yards and 1 TD as a junior for the Buckeyes.
Fantastic balance mixed with agility, speed and a strong stiff arm makes him hard to tackle. Can be a physical runner, can run away from the best defenders in football, can catch out of the backfield. He took a lot of snaps at OSU which may have taken a toll, and his pass blocking has a lot to be desired.
With the fifty-fourth pick in the NFL draft the Buffalo Bills selected AJ Espensa. Here’s a quick evaluation of the pick.
AJ Epenesa: Edge – Iowa
11.5 sacks/49 tackles/14.5 tackles for loss/4 forced fumbles as a junior for the Hawkeyes.
Isn’t the fastest pass rusher, but he uses his hands and strength well. Did very well against read-option plays whenever he saw them in college, and has a knack for knocking the football out of peoples hands in his college career. Has ideal weight and height.
With the fifty-third pick in the NFL draft the Philadelphia Eagles selected Jalen Hurts. Here’s a quick evaluation of the pick.
Jalen Hurts: QB–Oklahoma
2017 national champion, 2019 Heisman Trophy runner-up. 3,851 yards/32 TDs/8 INTs as a senior for the Sooners.
Obviously a leader. Had success playing for 2 of the top programs in the country in Alabama and Oklahoma. Can make throws you need him to make. Super athletic and a great runner. Tough player that has improved as a passer every season he has played. Not an elite passer yet. Could be a while before he comes close to being a franchise QB.
With the fifty-second pick in the NFL draft the Los Angeles Rams selected Cam Akers the running back out of Florida State.
With the fifty-first pick in the NFL draft the Dallas Cowboys selected Travon Diggs. Here’s a quick evaluation of the pick.
Trevon Diggs: CB–Alabama
8 pass breakups, 3 interceptions, 37 tackles
Isn’t the fastest corner in the world, but he makes up for it with his length and football IQ. He is able to diagnose routes quickly and can use his length to grab the ball at the catch point. Got picked on in the LSU game in 2019 due to his struggle with faster receivers.
