No. 10 Oklahoma Blisters Kansas 52-7

NORMAN, Okla. — The 10th-ranked Oklahoma Sooners lit up the Kansas Jayhawks on Saturday night at Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, cruising to a 52-7 victory.

The Sooners (5-1, 3-1 Big 12) scored on each of their five possessions in the first half, and also added a 90-yard punt return for a touchdown to take a 38-0 lead into halftime.

To open up the second half, Oklahoma returned a kickoff 100 yards for a TD to take a 45-0 lead. Luckily for Kansas (1-6, 0-4 Big 12), things didn’t get any more out of hand.

KU’s lone TD came late in the fourth quarter on a 1-yd run by junior running back James Sims. Sims continues to be a bright spot for the Jayhawks, finishing the game with 28 carries for 102 yards and one TD.

In his first career start, KU freshman quarterback Michael Cummings completed 10 of 21 pass attempts for 111 yards and two interceptions. Cummings also had 12 carries for 21 yards.

OU senior QB Landry Jones completed 19 of 28 for 291 yards and three TD’s.

The Jayhawks will take on the Texas Longhorns next Saturday at Memorial Stadium in Lawrence.
