KANSAS CITY, Mo — The Royals Hall of Fame debuted a new website Monday that showcases the history of the franchise and the rich tradition of professional baseball in Kansas City. Each of the 24 members of the Royals Hall of Fame is also prominently featured throughout the website, including video from many of their induction ceremonies.
The entire project is a collaborative effort between the Royals Hall of Fame and Major League Baseball Advanced Media (MLBAM). The website includes feature stories, on-going series, a photograph library, virtual exhibits and video elements that tell the story of the Royals franchise and the 128-year history of professional baseball in Kansas City.
“When the Royals Hall of Fame building opened in 2009, it finally allowed us to tell a more detailed story of Kansas City baseball,” said Curt Nelson, Director of the Royals Hall of Fame. “Now with the website, we can add even more depth. As we change exhibits inside the Royals Hall of Fame, our past efforts will now have a new life on-line.”
In conjunction with the website launch, the Royals Hall of Fame is also introducing a twitter feed –@royalshof – to share information on different aspects of Royals history in real time.
“One of the great parts of the game of baseball is its deep historical connections from one generation to the next,” said Nelson. “We want to try and connect today with the broader story of Royals baseball back to our founding and all the teams that were part of Kansas City before 1969.”
The new website also includes helpful tips for planning a tour visit to Kauffman Stadium and the Royals Hall of Fame, including hours of operation, group tour details and information on the Royals Scholastic Victory Program (RSVP) field trip for schools and youth organizations.
