KANSAS CITY, Mo — The Pittsburgh Steelers announced on Tuesday that former Kansas City Chiefs head coach Todd Haley will be their new offensive coordinator.
The 45 year old Haley went 19-26 over nearly three seasons with the Chiefs. This season, he was fired after a 5-8 start and an embarrassing 37-10 loss to the New York Jets. Last year, he led the Chiefs to their first AFC West title since the 2003 season.
His last stint as OC was a successful one. In 2009, he helped guide the Arizona Cardinals to their first and only Super Bowl appearance. Arizona was led by a former Super Bowl winner in quarterback Kurt Warner, but the Cardinals lost a thriller to QB Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers. After nearly three seasons of working with QB Matt Cassel in Kansas City, Haley will now team up with a two time Super Bowl winning QB in Roethlisberger.
Haley grew up as a ball boy for the Steelers. His father Dick Haley was director of player personnel for Pittsburgh throughout the 1970’s and 1980’s. Todd Haley replaces Bruce Arians as offensive coordinator for the Steelers.
