TOPEKA, Kan. — Washburn University experiences some sad news for on Sunday, as tragedy claims the life of a longtime member of the Ichabod family.

The campus is mourning the loss of Head Baseball Coach Steve Anson.

Authorities say he died in a tree trimming accident at his home outside of Topeka.

Anson joined the Washburn staff in 1979. According to the school’s website, he started 2014 as the winningest active coach in the MIAA.
